Some practice problems. The first few are missing solutions, I will add those later tonight. I may also add a few more problems tonight.

UPDATE: added a couple new problems, and there are now solutions to all problems. Same link above.

  1. On Problem 1 solution, why is (1/2)mVcm not squared like it is in the starting conservation of energy equation?

  2. Hm, that is a typo. One of you found a few other typos, I will try to fix as many as I can this afternoon and re-post.

In (2) the first term after the first equals sign should be (1/2)mv_cm^2 ...

The final answer is right, but in (2) I have M instead of m also.

  3. Are the problems going to be this hard on the test?

  4. No, not quite as hard. The theory is if you can do the practice problems, you should be totally fine on the exam ...

If I use any of the practice problems on the test, I will simplify them a bit.

  5. Will you be posting a past exam for this test as well?

  6. Well, that's where I stole most of the practice problems from :-) You can dig around here though, exam 2 and the final have some relevant bits.

(If you see calculus in the problems, ignore them, they are not fair game.)
