Not useless, no, but who said physics had to be practical anyways (to the everlasting defense of SELU physics teachers) ?
Obligatory: quote. Myself, I do it because it is fun, and it accidentally ends up being practical sometimes. Things like analyzing the physics of Angry Birds is what we should be doing to learn this stuff. There is no reason why it can't be fun.
